T-Ball

I was able to get both boys on the same t-ball team this year because the ages were 4-6. This is probably the only time they will be able to be on the same team so I knew I needed to sign them up. Damon did t-ball 2 years ago, but he was more interested in playing in the dirt and talking to the other players than playing ball. This year he was a really good player and it was really fun seeing both of my boys out there together. Monson played in the dirt a little bit, but there were a few times that Damon was on first and Monson was in the field near him and when a ball was hit to Monson, he got it, threw it to Damon and Damon got the kid running to first out. Of course there are no outs in t-ball so the kid stayed on first, but I thought it was really cool to see my boys work together like that.

All 3 of my boys out there. Anthon helped in the field when he was able to go to the games. The boy at bat hit the ball right to Monson, he grabbed it and threw it to Damon.

Soccer

Damon played his first season of soccer this year!  He has always been a natural at sports so we thought he would really excel on a soccer team, but it turned out that he was much more interested in talking to and playing around with the boys on the team than kicking the ball.  Most of the other boys had played soccer before, but since Damon's birthday is in September, which is after the cutoff for school and also soccer apparently, this was his first chance.  So the other boys knew what they were doing.  One of the dads of one of the boys said that last season his son didn't do a whole lot on the field, but this season he was actually playing, so we have hope that Damon will get into it more next season.  But he sure did look cute in his little uniform.

This looks like a great action shot of him getting the ball, but in reality I think it was an accident that the ball actually touched him.

The last few games of the season he would just run to the goal and stand there and wait for the ball to make it's way down to him.  (Like a goalie, but they don't have goalies in little kid soccer.)  It was a little frustrating to watch at times because he wouldn't go after the ball or even go near it.  There were a few times that he accidentally ran into the ball without realizing it.  When he was protecting the goal, every now and then the other players would kick it into his legs so he would "stop" it (by not moving) but overall he mostly just talked to and pulled on the other players trying to get them to play with him....but not soccer.

But hey, as long as he had fun, that's all that really matters, and I think he did.
