At the beginning of February I got to do a makeup job for a music video. I did Jenny Oaks Baker's makeup. She is a Grammy nominated violinist who has a lot of fun music videos on YouTube. It was a lot of fun! It's always a treat for me to get to take a break from my mommy job and get to do something that allows me to talk to adults, meet new people and use my skills.
Here are some pictures of the three hours I spent away from home:

Granite Flats
Anthon loves watching the BYU channel. They have good, wholesome shows that are also entertaining. We got to visit the set of one of the shows on the BYU channel recently. Our good friend, Blair Treu, was directing an episode of Granite Flats (he also was the writer and director of the new movie Meet the Mormons) and he invited us on set to see the action.
I've been on a few sets before because I'm a makeup artist, but it was Anthon's first time seeing how a tv show is made. It's a slow process, but it's really cool to see behind-the-scenes.
This is me and Blair in front of his director's chair.
We got to watch the monitors while a scene was being filmed.
This is some of the actors rehearsing together with the director.
We took a couple of pictures of us in the set. The show is set in the 1960's and this is the hospital set.
This is us with David Naughton, who plays the doctor. He apparently was the Dr. Pepper guy in commercials a long time ago and also starred in An American Werewolf in London. He was a really nice guy.
Everything on set was "old."
We were on set for about 5 hours and they filmed 2 scenes that totaled about 7 minutes of show time. So it's a really slow process, but we had a lot of fun!

Before and After Makeup
I did makeup for a girl named Erin for her wedding on Saturday. I thought the results were pretty good and pretty dramatic. When I was done, she kept saying, "I feel so beautiful!" I LOVE making people feel beautiful! Take a look at these before and after pics:

I think that I forgot to post a link to the finished product of the last music video that I did. So here it is and they also made a behind-the-scenes video that I'm in as well.

Baby You're a Firework
I got to do makeup for another music video last Saturday. David Osmond and Aubree Oliverson were doing "Firework." I'll post the video when it's done, but until then, here's some pictures of the shoot.
Here's me powdering David Osmond. He's a really nice guy.
Here I'm powdering Aubree. She is such a cute girl.
Anthon and the kids got to come and watch for a little while. I think they mostly just enjoyed throwing rocks into the water.
Here's an action shot.
It was a lot of fun and I think the video will be pretty cool.

Music Video
On Tuesday I had the opportunity to do makeup for a music video shoot. Lindsey Stirling and Alex Boye did a song together and decided to make a music video for YouTube. Both have a YouTube presence.
Here are some of Lindsey's links:

Late Night
I've been working 12 hour days on the movie set this week and today is going to be the hardest one of all. My call time is 2pm to 2am. And it's in Park City so I have to leave at 1pm and I won't get home until at least 3am. It's going to be a long night, but I love the experience I'm getting so it's ok with me.

Mooseman: The Moosical
The movie I'm doing makeup for is called Mooseman: The Moosical. It's a funny little film about a mooseman who doesn't know his own strength and accidentally kills people. I'll be working on it for the rest of the week. It's pretty fun being on-set and seeing all the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes on in the making of a movie. We work 12 hours days and there's a lot of waiting around, but I still like it.
Here's a picture of me and the Mooseman.
Here's my little makeup area and my walkie talkie.
And here's a behind-the-scenes shot.

Makeup Gig
Every now and then I get a really cool makeup job. It doesn't happen very often, unfortunately, but when it does, it makes me very happy. A couple years ago I got to do Ben Stein's makeup. That was a lot of fun. He's a very nice man. I've done stuff for the Sundace Film Festival and NBC. I got a call from MTV once.
This week I got a sweet makeup gig. I was hired to do makeup for a short tribute video for Sam Skaggs (old people know who he is). They had a bunch of people come in to do an interview and talk about Mr. Skaggs. One of the people that we shot was Elder L. Tom Perry. I got to meet L. Tom Perry....or "Tom" as I call him...but not to his face....or anyone else's.
Here's me and Tom.

I love doing makeup. Even when I have to wake up way too early in the morning for it. This morning I was up at 4am because my call time was 5:15am in Draper. But it was worth it. I did makeup for a girl that was on Fox 13 news this morning. Maybe you saw it. They were promoting a polo tournament that will be going on this weekend. It ended up being a 13 hour work day for me, but that's ok because I was doing makeup!
